The following is a response to a man that is praying for me to get saved so that I can be with Jesus when I enter eternity....
I understand your viewpoint that if one does not believe like you then they are considered in danger of missing out on eternity in heaven and spending it rather in hell. That my friend is judgement.
I accepted Jesus into my heart as my savior when I was 6 (49 years ago) and lived as a faithful fundamentalist until 1999. It was at that time that Jesus revealed to me that he was not a Christian and that indeed the Christian religion was established in the year 313AD under Constantine and that it bore little resemblance to his original message.
He also told me that nowhere in the scripture did it say that I needed to ask him into my heart and accept him as my Lord and Savior, that it was a tactic imposed by those seeking to propagate the Christian system, using fear as the motivator. He told me to fear not, that He has always been with me, that he was in me and that he was in all men. The only thing I needed to believe was that this was true. Christ in me, the hope of glory.
He also told me that I was not to believe when someone said that Christ was here or there, in a field or in a room because this appearing was internal, not out there somewhere. He said that there would be lots of people claiming to be Christ but that I could rest assured, his appearing would be from within His “temple” the one made without hands, brick and mortar.
He went on to say that there would be many false doctrines that would sway people through fear but that fear was incompatible with love as perfect love casts out all fear.
Finally he told me to be strong, that there would be many that would call me names and accuse me of heresy. He said they did the same to him and that I was in good company.
As an acorn it is hard to remember your beginning as the fruit from the mighty oak especially when you are thrust underground in the midst of great darkness. The seed continues its descent and reaps the treasures of darkness building a strong root system before it changes direction (it metaphorically repents or changes the way it thinks). Upon this change the seed turns completely around and ascends to break the plain of the earth and moves heavenward. Ah the journey. It provides many perspectives along the way. Best not to judge the seed in darkness as if it were to lay there forever. Wisdom says watch the journey and see the many dispensations of growth for where you are is but a moment in time.
